Here's what we accomplish together in 120 minutes:
We complete your state-specific advance care documents
Not forms you downloaded and hoped were right. The correct documents for your state, researched and provided by Barb before you arrive, completed together in the session with full context for every choice you're making.
We document your full end-of-life preferences
Who you want present. What environment matters to you. Your wishes around resuscitation and intervention. What quality of life means to you when the scenario gets hard. The personal details that make your wishes genuinely yours — documented in your own words, in a form your family can actually use.
We have the healthcare agent conversation — honestly
Not just who to name. Whether that person is actually equipped to advocate for you under real pressure, in a real medical situation, when emotions are running high and time is short. This is one of the most important decisions you'll make in this process. We make it carefully.
At the end of the session, you'll leave with a clear checklist of what to do next — who needs copies, how to execute your documents correctly, and where things should be stored so they're accessible when they're needed.
This is a working session
That means you arrive ready to work — not just ready to listen. Before the session, you'll receive a short intake form, a series of brief topic-specific videos (each under 5 minutes, about 20 minutes total), and any relevant documents Barb has prepared for your state. The videos provide the background you need so the session time is spent making decisions and documenting your wishes — not sitting through a lecture.
The prep makes the session. Plan for about 30 minutes of prep total.

Barb helps busy professionals and their families get the end-of-life planning and support they deserve — through advance care planning, end-of-life support, and the kind of clear, compassionate guidance that cuts through the confusion and actually makes this whole thing feel manageable.
She brings certifications in both end-of-life doula care and advance care planning, 25 years of professional experience in storytelling and communication, and something no certification teaches: the particular understanding of someone who has navigated complex, high-stakes family medical situations with no roadmap — and who has made it her life's work to make sure nobody else has to do the same.
She will not talk down to you. She will not make this more complicated than it needs to be. And she will not pretend that the paperwork is the point — because it isn't.
Why this matters to Barb
When Barb's youngest sister was diagnosed with a degenerative brain disorder as a teenager, the family spent the next two decades navigating a complex healthcare system largely alone. No advocates. No roadmap. No one translating what was happening into something they could actually understand and act on. Just two tenacious women — Barb and her mother — figuring it out as they went.
Even with everything they brought to it, it was harder than it needed to be.
She kept thinking about everyone doing this without the time, the information, or the support. About the families losing precious hours with their loved ones to confusion that didn't have to be there. About the decisions being made in the dark that could have been made with clarity.
That's not okay. And it's exactly why she does this work.
No family should have a harder ending than they need to — because they didn't know what they didn't know. That's her mission. And the Planning Essentials Session is where that mission becomes something real and lasting for the people you love.
